Two men rob Gallipolis Ferry Chevron

GALLIPOLIS FERRY — The Par Mar No. 38, located in the Chevron station at 15289 Huntington Road in Gallipolis Ferry, was robbed Tuesday night.

According to a report from the Mason County Sheriff’s office, the robbery occurred at 9:07 p.m. when two male subjects entered the store with handguns. After taking money from the store, the men fled the scene.

One of the subjects was wearing a gray long sleeve sweatshirt with red lettering. He also had the hood up and was wearing a toboggan with a mask that covered his face. The other suspect, whose face was covered by a bandana, was wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt with baggy blue jeans.

The Point Pleasant Food Mart, located in the Exxon at 2200 Jackson Ave., was recently robbed as well. According to the City of Point Pleasant Police Chief Ernie Watterson, a white male entered the store on Saturday, Nov. 21. The man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a white cloth covering his face. He also was carrying a knife.

The man demanded that the cashier give him money, and once the cashier complied, the subject exited the store. The incident is currently still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is encouraged to call the police department at 304-675-1104.

Across the river in Gallia County, Ohio, eight armed robberies have been committed since Nov. 14. The most recent robbery occurred Tuesday evening at Mattress Warehouse. However, the robbery was unsuccessful. According to the Gallipolis Police Department, at approximately 7:36 p.m. Tuesday, a white male in his late 20s, with medium build, a light complexion and wearing a gray hoodie entered the Mattress Warehouse, located in the Silver Bridge Plaza.

The man reportedly walked to the counter in the rear of the store, pulled a knife and demanded money. Police said that the clerk on duty picked up a laptop computer off of the counter and threw it at the suspect before fleeing through the front door of the store. She then went to a nearby business and called the police. According to police reports, no money was taken in the incident.

On Friday, Nov. 27 the Long John Silvers, located in the Silver Bridge Plaza in Gallipolis, was robbed as well. In addition, the Pizza Plus in Spring Valley was robbed on Saturday, Nov. 28. On Tuesday, Jacey Mahan, 24, of Gallipolis, was arrested in connection with the Long John Silvers’ robbery. The arrest stemmed from a joint investigation conducted by the GPD, Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and the Gallipolis Municipal Court Probation Department.

Mahan is accused of entering the restaurant on Friday, Nov. 27, telling an employee that she had a gun and demanding the contents of the cash register before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money. She is currently incarcerated in the Gallia County Jail.
