POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Police Department, with the support of the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The check point will take place between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., in the 400 block of Viand St./ W.Va. 62 in Point Pleasant. At the checkpoint, officers will briefly stop all traffic and will check each driver for any signs of intoxication.
Officers also will distribute informational brochures during the checkpoint. All efforts will be made to ensure that the flow of traffic remains constant and that the inconvenience to motorists is minimized.
The checkpoint is a statewide campaign funded through a grant, which is funded by the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention. The goal of the campaign is to reduce the number of alcohol related deaths on America’s highways.
