POINT PLEASANT — The Sixteenth Annual Battle Days Art Show will be held during the first weekend in October at Gallery At 409 in The Lowe Hotel building.
History buffs by the thousands attend Battle Days every year, but there is more than just history involved, as many artists from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, bring their artwork for the enjoyment of those who attend. The show also attracts many that view the artwork of nearby artists, both professional and amateur.
Co-chairmen of the show, Rod Brand, and Jason and Rhea Knight, are inviting artists to bring their artwork to the Battle Days Art Show. They accept artists from eighteen years of age and up. Work can be brought to the gallery Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 1 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. until noon.
The show will be judged by a professional artist and there will be awards, ribbons, engraved plaques, and cash for various artworks. Categories for the show include oil/acrylic, watercolor, carving, and other mixed media such as pastels, charcoal, pencil and ink. All items must be ready to hang when entered and table space will be provided for carvings. Artists are limited to four pieces each.
On Friday, Oct. 2, the art show will open from noon until 8 p.m. There will be no admission charged. The public is encouraged to attend to vote on the People’s Choice Award. The show will also be set up during Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4. Saturday’s hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday’s hours are from 1 until 4 p.m.
