Glen Singer, ‘The Horse Guy’ as he has come to be known, will perform during the first evening of the Tribute to the River Celebration. He will take the stage at 8:45 p.m. and perform ‘The Legend of El Gleno Grande.’
POINT PLEASANT — September is here and what better way to get things started than with the Third Annual Tribute to the River National Maritime Days Celebration.

Ten performers and groups make up the entertainment lineup that is sure to draw crowds and fans to the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is encouraged that those who attend the gospel music event to bring stadium seats or blankets to sit on.

Starting off the first night will be Top Shelf Rhythm and Blues Revue. They will take the stage at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The Esquires 10 Piece Show Band will follow at 7:30 p.m.

One very entertaining act, Glen Singer, also will perform on stage during Friday. Known as “The Horse Guy,” this corporate entertainer perfected his act in Europe and will be performing in Point Pleasant before heading to his next event.

During Saturday at 6 p.m., the Eternity Gospel Group will begin, followed by the Gospel Harmony Boys at 8 p.m. The night will end with square dancing with music by the High Country Band.

On the last day of the celebration three groups and one singer will grace the stage with their gospel music. At 1:30 p.m., the Maranatha Cornerstone Church Choir will perform. Chase Likens will hit the stage at 2 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m., the Builders Quartet will entertain the crowd. The event will end with singing by The New Prophets Gospel Group, who will be on stage at 3:30 p.m.

On top of all the entertainment, the Tribute to the River Celebration also will offer the event’s very first parade and Chili Cook-Off, both scheduled for Saturday. Participants in both events must be registered before the event starts. Children’s games and cash prize contests, along with boat tours and dinners will be sure to offer a little something for everyone that attends.

Point Pleasant is where history and rivers meet and this weekend it will be where boats and gospel music meet along the river.
