GALLIPOLIS FERRY — School had already been delayed for students at Beale Elementary and according to the State Department Office of Facilities, the doors will still not open on Monday as planned.
Gary Mitchell, Director of Facilities, said construction is still going on and students will have to wait until the entire project is completed.
“The target was Monday, but until we hear what the department has to say, we won’t know when the school will open back up,” Mitchell said.
The office will overlook the school tomorrow and Mitchell said the process will be a day-to-day situation. He and Dr. Capehart, Superintendent of Mason County Schools, are hopeful that Tuesday, Sept. 1 will be the first day of class at Beale Elementary.
Out of caution for the students, they will not be attending school at the start of next week. It is unsure when the students will be able to set foot in their classrooms, but a better indication will be revealed tomorrow when the office and Mitchell meets to discuss the construction and school calendar for the elementary students.
