Evelyn R. Profitt, 98, of Mason, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at her residence.

She was born November 17, 1910 to the late William Hoy Foglesong and the late Martha Katherine (Ruttencutter) Foglesong.

She was a 1927 graduate of Wahama High School and a graduate of West Virginia Weslyn College. She also was a school teacher at Wahama High School, the organist and member of Mason United Methodist Church, a church historian, Mason County Librarian and a 50 year member of the D.A.R. She also served various offices, was involved in the Garden Club, Mason City Historian Society, Mother’s Club and was named WSAZ Hometown Hero.

Evelyn’s favorite saying was “Spring will come again to the valley, flowers will grow on the mountain and the Shephard will return for his sheep.”

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, W. Ray Profitt; daughter-in-law, Carol Profitt; and two brothers, Samuel Foglesong and Donald Foglesong.

She is survived by her son, James R. Profitt of Mason; daughters, Sara ‘Sally’ (Robert) McBride of Valparasio, Ind., and Nancy Profitt of Mason; grandchildren, Terri (Rick) Dye of Uniontown, Ohio, Julie (George) Kolettis of St. Joseph, Mich., Angela (Chuck) Stanley Jr. of Mason, Robert (Robyn) McBride of Valparasio, Ind., and Gregory (Kim) McBride of Wilsonville, Ore.; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at Mason United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Knowlton officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetary. Her body will lie in state at the church for a special D.A.R. service which will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. at Foglesong-Tucker Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009.
