POINT PLEASANT — Although the Mason County Fair is almost over, there are still several activities on tap to keep fairgoers entertained.

Thursday was discount day, which brought a large crowd to the fairgrounds. Starting off the jam packed schedule was the Kid’s Kid show, which is geared toward children who are not yet old enough to show animals for 4-H.

The Young’uns Calf Show, Open Beef Cattle Show and Junior Beef Cattle show also were popular events that took place Thursday. Both the Open Beef and Junior Beef Cattle shows had a large crowd in attendance as well as several participants. Other notable activities on Thursday included the paper airplane toss, Mark Wood Fun Show, Pretty Baby Contest, Junior Horse Show Trail Class, Market Steer Show and the Junior and Open Dairy Show.

Fairgoers also enjoyed music from the Hannan High School Band. The goat catch and a performance by Savannah Jack closed out the day’s events.

Today the fairgrounds will be quite busy due to the Junior Livestock Sale, which is slated for 1 p.m. and will feature feeder calves, market steers, special lambs, market lambs, market meat goats and market hogs. The Master Market Showmanship also is on tap for today as well as presentations of the Peoples Bank Fair Scholarship Awards and the Ohio Valley Bank Born and Raised in Mason County Awards.

The winner of the Mason County Fair Idol contest also will be announced, and the winner will perform on the main stage prior to the Adam Gregory concert. Other events set for today include the Point Pleasant Middle School Band Concert, Riverside Cloggers performance, Super Stock Trucks, Tractors and Modified Stock Truck Pulls and auction of kid’s games.

The chicken catch and Adam Gregory concert will end the day’s activities.
