POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County Fair is now halfway through, and Wednesday’s schedule featured a variety of activities, shows and entertainment.
The weather was sunny for most of the day, which brought a large crowd out to enjoy the fair’s events. In addition, Wednesday was discount day.
The fair opened on Wednesday with the treasure hunt and hay bale toss. Several children participated in the hay bale toss games, which is always a staple of entertainment for youth each year at the fair. Mason County Fair Idol eliminations also took place, and the 2009 Mason County Fair Idol will be announced following Friday’s eliminations. In addition, the Open Sheep Show took place as well as a performance from the Wahama High School Band.
The Commercial Feeder Calf Show, which had several participants, began Wednesday evening’s events. Fairgoers also enjoyed a performance from Ohio River Dance, the Demolition Derby and the Randy Houser concert. The day’s activities closed with potato sack races.
Today’s schedule will follow the jam packed trend, and features a variety of activities. In addition, today is discount day. The Kid’s Kid Show, which is slated for 9 a.m., will start today’s events. The Young’un’s Calf Show, Open Beef Cattle Show and Junior Beef Cattle Show will follow.
Also on tap for the day, is the paper airplane toss slated for noon in the inside stage area, the Mark Wood Fun Show at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., corn hole at 2 p.m., seed spitting contest at 2 p.m., Market Steer Show at 4 p.m., Hannan High School Band Concert at 5 p.m., Pretty Baby Contest at 6 p.m., Jr. and Open Dairy Show at 6 p.m., Junior Horse Show Trail Class at 7 p.m., Terry Lynn Williamson Memorial Award presentation at 7 p.m. and the John Smith McCausland Memorial Award presentation at 7 p.m.
A performance by Savannah Jack and the goat catch will close out tonight’s events.
