Tuesday’s goat show had a record number of entries compared to past years. According to Sam Nibert, goat show chairman, 115 goats were shown with 54 being shown for sale. This number was significantly higher compared to last year’s 48 goat projects.
In addition, show officials announced that the majority of goats shown were born and raised in Mason County. In fact, seven of the top eight market meat goats were raised in the area.
Bob Hare served as judge of the show and said that he was very pleased with the quality of this year’s goats. Hare, who also judged the 2008 goat show, said that he saw significant improvement in the projects. Nibert also said that he was pleased with the quality of this year’s event.
“The show went good, and according to the judge the quality was better — he related that to the 4-H and FFA advisors for doing a good job with the projects,” Nibert added.
