POINT PLEASANT — Tuesday’s Mason County Fair events proved to be just as busy as Monday’s schedule, but with much sunnier skies for most of the day.

The pet parade kicked Tuesday’s activities off, followed by the junior dairy and market meat goat show. According to goat show Chairman Sam Nibert, this year’s goat show was very successful.

More than 100 goat projects were shown, compared to last year’s 48 projects. The carnival opened in the afternoon to sunny skies and warm weather, which was a large contrast to Monday’s rain showers. The sunshine also brought several fairgoers out to enjoy the carnival’s rides and games.

As Tuesday also was senior citizens and CEOS Day, the CEOS organization presented two demonstrations. In addition, Mason County Fair Idol completed day two of eliminations. Fairgoers also enjoyed music from Bo Rickard Youth in Gospel Music as well as the Harry Rhodes Gospel Sing, which featured the groups New Jerusalem Bluegrass, The Humphrey’s and Cody Smith. Other activities included a performance from the Point Pleasant High School Band, presentation of 4-H Scholarship Awards, the antique tractor pull, the market lamb and special lamb show and performances by Eternity and The Hinsons. A banana eating contest closed out Tuesday’s events.

Today’s schedule will be just as busy as Tuesday. The fair will open with a treasure hunt in the morning followed by the hay bale toss, which is slated for noon. Also on tap is corn hole at 2 p.m., Mason County Fair Idol eliminations at 3 p.m., open sheep show at 3 p.m., Wahama High School Band Concert at 5:30 p.m., commercial feeder calf show at 6 p.m., Ohio River Dance at 6:30 p.m., demolition derby at 7 p.m. and the 4-H Leader Memorial Awards at 7 p.m. In addition, Randy Houser will take the main stage at 9 p.m., and the potato sack race will close out the evening’s activities at 9:30 p.m.
