Harry Heyman Kreglo, 78 of Frazers Bottom died Tuesday August 4, 2009 at home. Funeral Services will be held at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 8. Rev. Mike Saunders will be officiating. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Barboursville with a Masonic ceremony, military graveside rites by Wright Patterson Air Force Base and VFW rites. The family will receive friends on Saturday after 10 a.m.

Harry Heyman Kreglo was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Betty Jane Kreglo, last November. He is survived by his sister, Betty Lou Gannon of Mandeville, La., her daughter Annette Heymann, her husband Mark Heymann, their niece Lauren Heymann and nephew Mathew Heymann of Mandeville, La.; his son, James W. Townsend, his wife Janice M. Townsend, granddaughter Lisa A. Townsend of Clearwater, Fla.; his son, James R. Kreglo of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; his son Karl H. Kreglo, his wife Lori D. Kreglo, granddaughter Summer Kreglo of Pritchard, daughter Susan E. Miller, her husband Greg Miller; grandchildren, G. Shaun Miller, his wife Lisa A. Miller; great grandchildren, Sydney and Caitlyn Miller of Columbia, S.C.; grandson, Nicholas Miller and his wife Angie Miller; great grandchildren, Josh, Connor, and Cody Miller of Apple Grove; and longtime friends Tommy Blain and Jeannie Stover.

Harry was born in Indianapolis, Ind. on April 26, 1931. He graduated from Tridelphia High School in Wheeling in 1949. He attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of music in 1950 and 1951 where he studied the trumpet. He then served in the Naval Reserve and then active duty Air Force stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyo. where he joined the Acacia Lodge No. 11 Masonic Lodge. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force he worked at the casino, The Mint, in Las Vegas, Nev. as an accountant. He then worked for Ohio Valley Insulating Company, Inc., his father’s business. While working there he attended Marshall University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business.

After graduating from Marshall University, Harry went to work for Eagle Pitcher Insulation where he was responsible for industrial insulation sales in the southeastern United States. In 1961, Harry left Eagle Pitcher and went to work for Owens-Corning Fiberglas as an Industrial Insulation salesman. During his time with Owens-Corning, he was in the Charleston office where he began estimating work for the insulation contracting division. He was transferred to the Los Angeles, Calif. division in 1967 and resided in Placentia, Calif.

In 1970, Harry’s father came to Placentia and recruited Harry to come back to Huntington to take over the family Industrial Insulation business. Harry contracted many large insulation projects including Stauffer Chemical, Ashland Oil, Dow Chemical, US Chemicals, Kaiser Aluminum, International Nickel, Calgon, Novamont, Shell Chemical, Goodyear Chemical, Armco Steel, Banquet Foods, American Electric Power, Goodyear Atomic Plant, Chung King, Purnia, Allied Chemical, FMC, DuPont Chemical and many more plants throughout the tri-state area. Harry sold Ohio Valley Insulating Company, Inc. in 1993 and retired. He donated the building that had served as OVI’s headquarters for 34 years to the Tri-State Area Boy Scout Council with the help of Jeff Faucette of Merrill Lynch in Huntington.

During his time at OVI, Harry furthered his Masonic education by joining the Scottish Rite Temple in Charleston adding the York Rite after that, and joining the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston. Harry was very active in the Shrine Gold Band where he played the trumpet. During this time, the Gold Band won many national awards. Harry also was active in playing in a number of local dance bands. He loved playing his trumpet and he was an accomplished musician.

Harry was a Life Member of the NRA, a member of the VFW, the Construction Specification Institute, National Insulation Contractors Association, the Jesters, and served as a representative to the Republican National Committee. His hobbies included shooting, photography, and sports cars.

Harry retired to his farm in Mason County and purchased a house in Clearwater, Fla. where he spent his remaining years with his wife Betty. Harry enjoyed farming, raising cattle and horses.
