Second year for Mothman Pageant

POINT PLEASANT — The 2nd annual Miss Mothman Festival Pageants will take place in September. The 2009 royalty will reign over the Mothman Festival held Sept. 19 and 20 on Main Street.

The very first Pretty Baby Contest also will be on Sept. 17. Entry fee is $15 before the deadline on Sept. 3 and $20 after deadline and on day of pageant. Age divisions (girls and boys) include 0-3 months; 4-7 months; 8-11 months; 12-15 months; 16-19 months; and 20-23 months.

The Teen Miss, Miss, Ms., and Mrs. pageant will be Friday, September 18 at the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park. Two princess titles will be given and four queens will be crowned 2009 Royalty. Entry fee is $40 and includes optional divisions. Everyone will receive a participation trophy. Age divisions include Teen Miss, ages 13-15; Miss, ages 16-19; Ms., ages 20-28; Mrs., married women.

Reigning queens are Regan Cottrill, Teen Miss; Kayleigh Neff, Miss Princess; Devin Cottrill, Miss Queen; Rebecca Cline, Ms.; and Kiley Lanham, Mrs.

Jesse Canterbury, WBYG’s Big County 99.5 Colgate Country Showdown winner will perform on Friday night at riverfront park.

The Tiny, Little, Junior Miss pageant will take place Saturday, Sept. 19. Every contestant will be crowned Mothman Festival Princesses with their own tiara and sash. Runner-up awards will be given, along with the crowning of the new royalty and optional awards. Entry fee is $40. Age divisions include Tiny Miss, ages two-five; Little Miss, ages six-nine; and Junior Miss, ages 10-12.

Reigning queens are Adriana Sayre, Tiny Miss; Kelci Lockhart, Little Miss; and Darian Miller, Junior Miss.

The deadline to enter is Aug. 18. Entry forms are available at the Mason County Tourism Center, Victoria’s Prom & Bridal, Mothman Museum, Babies & Beyond, Harris Steakhouse and the Point Pleasant Register office.

This pageant is open to anyone, not just Mason County residents. Rules and regulations are available on the pageant Web site.
