POINT PLEASANT — As the summer season progresses, it is once again time to begin thinking about the Mason County Fair, which is slated for August.

And the Point Pleasant Junior Woman’s Club is already spreading the word about the Little Mister and Miss Mason County Fair Contest as well as the Mason County Fair Pretty Baby Contest.

The group is sponsoring both contests, which will take place during the fair the week of Aug. 10-15. The Little Mister and Miss Mason County Fair Contest will be 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 on the main stage at the fairgrounds. Pre-registration is required for the contest as is a $20 registration fee. The deadline to register will be Friday, July 31. All participants are required to fill out a questionnaire, which is located on the fair’s Web site, www.masoncountyfairwv.org.

The Mason County Fair Pretty Baby Contest is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the inside stage of the fairgrounds. This year’s age groups will be three months and under, four-six months, seven-nine months, 10-12 months, 13-15 months, 16-18 months, 19-23 months, 24-30 months, 31-35 months, three years old and four years old. Each age category will have a boy and girl group.

The early entry fee for the pretty baby contest is $10 and must be turned in by Aug. 8. The late registration fee is $20, and late registration will be 4:45-5:30 p.m. at the inside stage on Aug. 13 prior to the contest. Registration forms and a list of rules are available on the fair’s Web site as well as on page eight of the Mason County Fair Catalog.

This year’s fair will feature a variety of 4-H projects, rides and entertainment along with a performance by Diamond Rio, the headlining act, on Aug. 15.
