POINT PLEASANT — In support of the Point Pleasant High School baseball team — and of all of PPHS’ athletic accomplishments in the past year — citizens are encouraged to observe Red and Black Day in Point Pleasant on Friday.

The Black Knights travel to Watt Powell Park in Charleston to challenge Sissonville in the state AA high school baseball tournament. The bus transporting the team leaves PPHS at 10 a.m. Friday.

Citizens are asked to show their support by wearing red and black on Friday and lining the streets from the high school to downtown to wish the team luck. If PPHS wins Friday, it vies for the state championship on Saturday.

Organizers said Red and Black Day is also designed to show appreciation for all of Point Pleasant High’s athletic teams in the past year.
