NEW HAVEN — A New Haven teen has been arrested on charges of burglary and breaking and entering.
William Bissell, 18, was arrested May 21 by officers with the New Haven Police Department, according to Chief Rich Gilkey. Bissell was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of breaking and entering and one count of daytime burglary.
Gilkey said the arrest was a result of a report of a suspicious person trying to get into a residence in the town last week. When officers arrived in the area, they noticed a man hiding in the bushes near the residence. The officers then apprehended the man and arrested him.
Gilkey said the police department had been following up on two prior cases of breaking and entering in vehicles that happened earlier in the week.
Gilkey added that he is pleased that residents in the Town of New Haven are reporting crimes and suspicious activity in their respective neighborhoods.
Bissell was transported to the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville. He was arraigned by Magistrate Gail Roush, who set bond at $12,000.
Cpl. Ian Smith and Patrolman David Hardwick are continuing their investigation.
