POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County grand jury met Monday and indicted 34 people on various charges.
The indictments included a former firefighter charged with arson and two men charged with kidnapping a juvenile.
Kimberly Sue Blake, 25, of Mason, was indicted for two counts of first-degree arson and one count of conspiracy. The indictments were handed down more than 15 months after she initially was arrested for first-degree arson.
In January 2008, Blake and two others were arrested for allegedly setting fire to at least two structures. At that time, Blake was a member of the Mason Volunteer Fire Department and was accused of setting fire to some trash on the front porch of a trailer located along Front Street in Mason.
Two months later, the charges against Blake were dismissed when officers with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s office did not attend the preliminary hearing. It later was confirmed that the fire marshal’s office had not received a subpoena for the hearing.
Also indicted Monday were Christopher M. Henson, 20, of Point Pleasant, and Travis Johnson, whose age was unavailable, also of Point Pleasant. They each were indicted for kidnapping, second-degree robbery and conspiracy.
In February, Henson and Johnson allegedly abducted a person at the basketball court on 27th Street in Point Pleasant, threatening and ordering that person to get into Johnson’s vehicle. Fearing for his life, the juvenile complied. According to a police report, the men allegedly drove through the city, then outside the city limits and onto a back road in the county. They later returned to the city, then allowed the alleged victim to leave the vehicle near a local business.
