POINT PLEASANT — Law enforcement officers are continuing their investigation into the death of a Point Pleasant woman.

According to Point Pleasant Police Chief Ernie Watterson in a media release, emergency personnel with Mason County Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the home of Bobby and Erma Cobb on McNeil Avenue around 5:50 p.m. Thursday after Bobby Cobb found his wife unresponsive inside of the home.

Watterson said Erma Cobb, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials.

Due to the circumstances involved at the scene, officers with the Point Pleasant Police Department, along with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to the scene, Watterson said. Officials also called for the assistance of the state police’s crime scene mobile lab as well as special investigators being called in for precautionary measures.

Following the police’s investigation, Erma Cobb’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in South Charleston for an autopsy.

“At this time her death is being addressed as suspicious,” Watterson said, “Although the investigation could reveal health circumstances may have been involved.”

Lt. Shawn Ross and Sgt. Bryan Morrow with the Point Pleasant Police Department as well as Sgt. E.B. Starcher, Cpl. K.M. Gilley and Trooper A.D. Wootton of the state police were involved in the investigation.
