WHS alumni banquet scheduled

MASON — The Alumni Association of Wahama High School is preparing for its annual reunion and banquet to be May 23 at the gymnasium at the high school.

A social time will start at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served buffet-style at 6 p.m., with classes 1927 through 1946 or other individuals needing assistance being served.

Classes celebrating reunions will be 1939 through 1999, with the Class of 1959 being the special guest. All graduating classes are welcome to celebrate with friends and fellow alumni.

Due to the address changes of Mason County residents, many letters/reservation forms have been returned to the association. Interested individuals who have not received a reservation form or who need more information may call Dee Bumgardner at 304-773-5488.

Fire department plans fundraiser

LEON — There will be a pig roast fundraiser for the Flatrock Volunteer Fire Department’s Substation 4 beginning at noon Saturday, May 2 at the Baden Community Center, which is located along W.Va. 87.

There will be music and singing throughout the afternoon. Events will take place outdoors unless it is raining.

All proceeds will go to the fire department. The event is sponsored by the Baden community.

Farm Credit profits distributed

RIPLEY — The Ripley branch of Farm Credit has announced the distribution in cash of a portion of its 2008 profit. Checks totaling $475,000 were mailed to customers in early April.

Farm Credit is a customer-owned financial cooperative with an organizational structure that allows the company to share its profits with the people who use its services. The total amount distributed, in cash, to all Farm Credit of the Virginias customers for 2008 was nearly $13 million dollars. This dividend represents 50 percent of the association’s 2008 income.

Correction

POINT PLEASANT — Angela Burdette was not arrested for domestic battery. The person arrested was Ashley Burdette, 22, of Point Pleasant.

The information was incorrectly reported in a recent edition of the Point Pleasant Register.
