James O. Langdon, 89, went to be with the Lord April 6, 2009 at Mercer Nursing Care Center in Bluefield.

He was the son of the late Charles Edgar and Dora Grouse Langdon. He was a United States Navy veteran, a dedicated school teacher for 38 years in the Mason County School System and was a member of the First Church of God in Point Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aris Carder Langdon.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and brother, Woodrow Langdon.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert “Lee” Langdon of Milton, Pearl Langdon of Mount Morris, Pa., and Harvey Langdon of Glenwood; an adopted son, James O. Langdon of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

They were foster parents to many foster children, including Jarvis Staats, Charles “Sonny” Watson, Kenneth “Butch” Watson, Linda Watson and Brenda Rhodes.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Carl Swisher officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
