Avenell Y. “Ava” Counts, age 79, of Ashville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 20, 1933, in Point Pleasant, to the late Irvin and Vonceil (Flint) Martin.
Ava retired after 32 years at General Motors in Columbus, then was a volunteer at CAPA in Columbus for 10 plus years as an usher. A member of U.A.W. 969 in Columbus and always looked forward to the Tuesday Dinner with Retiree’s at O’Charley’s on Georgesville Road. She enjoyed country music, and loved spending time with her family and friends, especially family reunions.
She is survived by her husband, H. Roger Counts; daughters, Linda (John) Corbett of Columbus, Ohio, and Tammy Sunday of Ashville, Ohio; grandchildren, Misty Baxter (Kristy Ellis) , Rodney Jude (Wendi Doyle), Roger Alan Sunday, and Tiffany Sunday; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Jude , Dakota Baxter-Ellis, and Nikki Tipton; sisters and brothers, Thelma (Ralph) Baker of Bidwell, Ohio, Dolly (Shirl) Nibert of Gallipolis Ferry, Charles Irvin (Wilma Jean) Martin of Gallipolis Ferry, Garland (Sharon) Martin of Ashville, Ohio, Archie (Theresa) Martin of Gallipolis Ferry, Judy Fiddler of Grove City, Ohio, and Robert (Debbie) Martin of Grove City, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, Ohio, with Rev. Frank Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Memorial Gardens, Circleville. Calling hours will be from from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
