Gene Deal, 79, of Glenwood, passed away at his home on January 4, 2013. He was born December 31, 1933, in Mason County, a son to the late William and Eliza Tagg Deal. Gene was an U.S. Army Veteran, and a retired Tow Motor Operator for Danco Lumber Company in Huntington.

He is preceded in death, besides his parents, by one son, Michael Scott Deal; and one sister, Loma Plumley; and three brothers, Paul Deal, Russell Deal, and Roger Deal.

He is survived by one brother, William Deal of Ironton, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Gay and (Kenneth) Mayes of Gallipolis Ferry, April Adkins and (Steve) of Medina, Ohio, Mary and (Joe) Mayes of Glenwood, Pam and (Robert) Ford of Castle Berry Fla., and Cordelia and (Bill) Prichard of Parma, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and his many cats. The family would like to thank Joe Mayes for his care of Gene.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Deal Funeral Home with Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial was in the Apple Grove Memorial Gardens, Apple Grove. Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
