Derrick Ray Shuler, 22, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., passed away at The OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, November 17, 2012, following complications from a long illness. He was the son on Timmy Shuler of Apple Grove, W.Va., and the late Trina Campbell of Dallas, Texas. He graduated in 2008 from the New Beginnings Christian Academy in Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Trina Campbell, and grandfather, Clayton “Tom” Shuler, Jr.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Timmy and Jenny Shuler of Apple Grove, W.Va.; one sister, Amanda (Edward) Johnson of Southside, W.Va.; one brother, Shelby (Jenna) Shuler of Point Pleasant, W.Va., step-brother, Orrin Chason, and step-sisters, Lisa Chason and Jessica Chason. Also surviving are paternal grandmother, Genevieve Chapman of Southside; maternal grandmother, Thelma Campbell of Gallipolis Ferry; niece, Morgan Johnson; nephews, Tristen and Trinten Shuler, Parker Johnson, Benjamin Chason, girlfriend Sandra Summers, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Deal Funeral Home with Brother Paul Voss officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Pliny W.Va. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
