West Virginia State Police

LAKIN — One man was arrested following an accident on W.Va. 2 near Roosevelt Elementary School Saturday,

Justin Charles Sayre, 24, of Point Pleasant, and David Michael Wallen, 36, of Evans, were driving north on W.Va. 2 when Sayre attempted to pass Wallen.

His 1993 Buick made contact with the driver’s side of Wallen’s 2006 Toyota utility vehicle, which caused Sayre to lose control, strike a ditch then strike a residence before overturning three times and coming to rest in a yard.

Sayre managed to get out of his vehicle and attempted to flee the scene when he called a family member to take him to Pleasant Valley Hospital.

After being released from the hospital, Sayre was arrested for DUI and taken to the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville. Other charges may be pending.

Trooper A.D. Wootton investigated the 3:15 p.m. accident.

• No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident on Mason 80 Road in Apple Grove Saturday.

Lora Lynn Moore, 30, of Gallipolis Ferry, was driving her 1994 Ford Ranger south when she ran off the roadway and into a ditch.

Cpl. C.K. Zerkle investigated the 1:59 p.m. accident.

Mason County Sheriff’s Department

POINT PLEASANT — Dawn L. Simons, 38, of Cottageville, was arrested Saturday by Deputy Curtis Jones for driving on a revoked license for DUI.

Point Pleasant Police Department

POINT PLEASANT — One person was arrested following a two-vehicle accident Saturday.

William D. Shamblin, 51, of Sissonville, was driving his 2005 GMC pickup truck north in the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue as David C. Hudson, 22, of Henderson, was driving his 1995 Chevrolet Lumina east and was attempting to exit a parking lot when he struck Shamblin.

Hudson then fled the scene. He was arrested for DUI - first offense and leaving the scene of an accident. He also was found to be at fault for the accident for failure to yield the right of way.

Patrolman Derrick Taylor investigated.

• Creed A. Simpkins, 26, of Point Pleasant, was arrested Saturday by Sgt. Jimmy Reynolds on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer, battery on a police officer and battery. He was taken to the Western Regional Jail.

HARTFORD — Chief Sam Anderson reported no accidents or arrests.

Henderson Police Department

HENDERSON — Chief J.L. McCoy reported no accidents or arrests.

Mason Police Department

MASON — Chief David Woolard reported no accidents or arrests.

New Haven Police Department

NEW HAVEN — Joshua Hunter, 25, of New Haven, was arrested Friday by Patrolman Ian Smith and Chief Rich Gilkey on a charge of cruelty to animals.

• Corey Marcinkewcz, 20, of New Haven, was arrested Friday for destruction of property.

• Kenton Ramsey, 34, of Pomeroy, Ohio, was arrested Friday for obstructing a police officer.

• Due to numerous complaints from the public, members of the New Haven Police Department will be strictly enforcing the speed limit on Midway Drive.
