Richard Franklin Jr., of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital.
Ricky was born on November 28, 1962, in Salina, Kan., to the late Richard and Virginia Franklin. Besides his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by a sister, Dionne Nelson.
Ricky was employed at Federal Express. He was a 1981 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army. His love of horses was shared with his dad. His quick wit kept us laughing, and his charisma was unmatched. Ricky was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved playing and watching sports.
He is survived by his children, Dominique and Isaiah Franklin of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Marjorie Chapman of Pomeroy, Ohio; his sisters, Terry and Lisa Franklin of Richmond, Va., Tiffany Franklin of Point Pleasant, Donita (Anton) Beam and Crystal Brannon of Columbus, Ohio, Sabrina Bryant of Utika, N.Y., Nicole Franklin of Denver, Colo., Denise L. Martin and Kim Raymore of Point Pleasant, and Harriet Franklin of Chevy Chase, Md.; his brothers, Rtan (Carla) Cossin of Charleston, and Robert (Angie) Holley of Point Pleasant; step-mom, Vikki See of Point Pleasant; aunt, Ada Franklin of Point Pleasant; multiple nieces, nephews, family and friends, and special friends, Marlene Dexter of Columbus, Ohio, and Stevie Patterson and Ronnie Payne of Point Pleasant.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Minister Harry Harris of Cleveland, Ohio, will be officiating. Burial will be at Lone Oak Cemetery in Point Pleasant with military honors.
Honorary pallbearers are Dominique and Isaiah Franklin and Wade Martin. Pallbearers are: Ryan Cossin, Tony Moore, Rosten Ward, Bud Miller, Sammy and Johnny Morris, and Rodney Byus.
The family has entrusted Crow-Hussell Funeral Home with Richard’s care.
