Reader unhappy with insurance agency

Dear Editor,

I wanted to make the people in our area aware of the poor service we received from Erie Insurance. We have our house and auto policies with them and have had for five years. During the previous bad weather our area suffered from during the spring, I incurred property damage, as well as many of my neighbors. Our claim was less than $3,500 in which was paid by the company. However, due to the claim we are now being canceled. It’s a sad day when someone loses something by no fault of their own but it’s even more sad when a company is okay with you as long as you give them money then ditch you when they deliver the serve you have paid for so long.

I have been insured with Erie (Home, auto, & boat) for over 17 years. We have had a couple of claims over that time in which they have always been "Johnny on the spot"!! no problems with them what so ever. Matter of fact, their service (and rate) is the main reason we switched to them I find it very hard to believe that they cancelled you over one single claim for $3500, when you have been with them for that length of time. I do not believe the insurance commissioners office would allow a company to do that for one claim, regardless of who they are. I have suspicions that there is more to this story, which there is always two sides!! Maybe we should get a response from Erie and see what kind of customer you have been for the last 5 years before we cast stones!!
