Lois Avanell George
Avanell George, 80, of Rutland, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.
Born November 19, 1931, at Davin, W.Va., to the late Oakley Fred Jordan and Violet Butcher Jordan Jarrell. She was a homemaker, and a 1950 graduate of Rutland High School. She married Fred H. George, October 7, 1951, at Rutland United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Linter and was a member of the Rutland United Methodist Church. She was a member since 1963 of the Harrisonville Chapter #255, Order of Eastern Star, serving as Past Matron, also a Grand Representative of South Carolina, 2003, District President, 2008, and Grand Page, 2009. She was also an avid bird watcher (Purple Martins).
Surviving Avanell are two sons, Terry Lee (Becky) George, Pomeroy, Ohio and Ricky Dean (Faith) George, Gallipolis, Ohio; nephew, Rodney (Andrea) Wright, Rutland, Ohio; niece, Fonna Kay (Don) Cullums, Pomeroy, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Bill Perry. A special thanks is extended to her Eastern Star family, she loved each and every one.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Fred H. George in 2003; two sons, Gary Ray and Randy Don George; sister, Beulah Belle (Earl) Wright; granddaughter, Savannah McCarley; and special nephew, Roger Lee Wright.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Rutland Civic Center, with Pastor Mark Brookins officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Center Cemetery in Langsville, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Rutland Civic Center with O. E. S. #255 services at 7:30 p.m.
