Dear Editor,

I was amazed to see on this stimulus money breakdown on the work appropriated for each county that Mason County wasn’t even listed for any work! What are our elected delegates doing for Mason County? Anything?

W.Va. 62 from Lakin to Mason is a disgrace — slips, high places, etc. It has been this way since 1960 that I know of. That’s 49 years! These high humps and slips and raised up places that almost throw you off the road have been black-topped so many times it must be three feet thick!

This road needs to be fixed right: dug out, stone put in and repaved right, not cut down and more black top poured on top of it and just as rough or rougher than it was. Surely, after 49 years, something can be done on this stretch of road. It has caused numerous wrecks, not counting damage to our cars (front-end, alignment, bent wheels, etc.)

If our elected delegates can’t do one thing for Mason County, they should be removed from office and someone else elected that will represent the citizens of Mason County. One of our delegates must know this piece of road is in this kind of terrible condition. If this piece of road is not fixed right with some of the stimulus money, it never will be fixed.

Citizens should call their delegates. If this road is not repaired, we should vote every delegate for this county out of office!

Sincerely,

Howard Keyser,

New Haven

I drive this road every day, and last week there was a rollover accident on the rough spot below the sawmill. It was so bad the vehicle rolled clear over the guard rail. Someone needs to do something about this road before anyone else gets hurt or killed. There wasn't even any report of this accident hummm???? wonder why? Could it be the state is at fault for not fixing the road like it is supposed to be fix?
