ROCKSPRINGS, Ohio — The Meigs volleyball team went down fighting, but ultimately suffered a 25-10, 25-11, 26-24 setback to visiting Alexander Tuesday night in a Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division matchup at Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium.


The host Lady Marauders (0-9, 0-4 TVC Ohio) remained winless on the season and were blown away by the Lady Spartans in the first two games by a combined 29 points. Meigs, however, managed to force extra points in Game 3 before ultimately falling by the two-point minimum.


The Lady Marauders finished the night 39-of-47 at the serving line and also had team totals of 19 kills, 19 assists and two blocks in the setback.


Alyson Dettwiller led the MHS service attack with five points, followed by Brook Andrus with four points. Lindsay Patterson and Olivia Cremeans each added three points, while Emily Kinnan rounded things out with one service point.


Kinnan led the net attack with seven kills and a block, while Andrus followed with five kills and a block. Mercadies George added three kills, Hannah Cremeans had two kills and Olivia Cremeans followed with one kill. Patterson led the offense with a team-high 16 assists.
