Howard “Pete” Kenneth Blessing, 79, of Leon, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, while doing what he loved.
Pete was a very hard working man that enjoyed the simple life. He was a son to the late Ernest and Renee (Sayer) Blessing.
Besides his parents, Pete is preceded in death by a loving wife, Geraldine; two sons, Floyd and Wally Blessing; and one brother, Ralph Blessing of Parkersburg.
Pete is survived by his loving children, Ida (Mike) Herdman, Kenneth and Nicole Blessing all of Leon, and Charles Larry Blessing of Mount Alto; two daughter-in-laws, Tracy and Misty; two sisters, Leona and Belva (Peg); also he has three wonderful grand kids, Travis, Anthony, and Connor all of Leon. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Pete was born in Letart in 1932. He grew up on the values of hard work and no complaints. He was a retired laborer of local union hall #543 of Huntington. When he wasn’t on the job providing for his family, Pete was hard at work enjoying the passions in is life, tending his farm, cutting firewood, and coon hunting. Besides his family, these three things brought him the most joy. He also enjoyed attending services at Harvey Chapel Church, and going for rides with his daughter, Ida.
Pete was a man of simple ways and hard work, and to those that had the privilege to be in his life he will be greatly missed.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
