POINT PLEASANT — At the most recent meeting of the Mason County Board of Education, board members approved the following agenda and personnel items.


Approved Minutes, Agenda #12-06, August 14, 2012. Approved Minutes, Agenda #12-07, August 15, 2012. Approved Minutes, Agenda #12-08, August 21, 2012. Voted to review, discuss, and place Policy #3251-Teacher Work Load/Schedules, on a five day review. Voted to review, discuss, and place Policy #4255-Duty Free Lunch, on a five day review.


Approved the Interagency Agreement between Mason County Board of Education and South Western Community Action Council Head Start for the 2012-13 school year. Approved the following work-based learning businesses effective immediately through September 30, 2013: Dairy Queen, Mason County Career Center, Kanawha Stone Company. Approved volunteers from Beale Elementary and New Haven Elementary, for the 2012-13 school year.


Accepted the resignation of Travis Price, Welding Teacher, Mason County Career Center, effective August 23, 2012. Approved the employment of the following applicants as substitute teachers for the 2012-13 school year: Gary Adkins, Laura Anderson, Lydia Davis, Melissa Deem, Margaret Endicott, Ashely Gilbert, Ada Herdman, Tirza Kay, Irene Murphy, Beth Rollins, and Sue Thacker. Approved the employment of Tebaliah Martindale, Grade Five Teacher, New Haven Elementary, Job #210-398-P, effective August 30, 2012. County will be the funding source.


Approved the employment of Jessica Snider, Social Studies Teacher, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-884-P, effective August 30,2012. County will be the funding source. Approved to delete the position of Welding Teacher, Mason County Career Center. Approved to post the position of Welding and Industrial Equipment Maintenance Teacher, Mason County Career Center. County money will be the funding source.


Approved to post the position of Grade 5 Teacher, Ashton Elementary, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved to post the position of Kindergarten Teacher, Beale Elementary for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved to post the position of Kindergarten Teacher, Leon Elementary, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Accepted the resignation of Sandra Thomas, Custodian, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School, effective August 20, 2012. Approved to post the position of Special Education Aide, Central Office Itinerant, for the 2012-13 school year. Special Education will be the funding source. Approved to delete the position of General Maintenance/Carpenter II/Plumber II/Electrician II/Heavy Equipment Operator/HVAC/Sanitation Plant Operator/CDL License, 261 Days, Job #018-007-M for the 2012-13 school year. Approved to post the position of General Maintenance/Truck Driver/Electrician/Roofer/Sheet Metal Mechanic, Maintenance Department. County will be the funding source.


Approved to post the following Title I Interventionists positions: Ashton Elementary (1 position); Leon Elementary (1 position); New Haven Elementary (1 position). Title I will be the funding source. Approved to post the following Parent Coordinator Positions: Ashton Elementary (1 position); Beale Elementary (1 position); Leon Elementary (1 position); New Haven Elementary (1 position). Title I will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Neil Randolph, Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Hannan Jr/Sr High School, Job #501-013-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the employment of Andrew Burns, Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Hannan Jr/Sr High, Job #501-003-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Paul Akers, Assistant Basketball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Hannan Jr/Sr High School, Job #501-007-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Brent Larck, Girls Head Varsity Softball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Wahama Jr/Sr High, Job #503-221-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the employment of William Zuspan, Boys Jr. High Assistant Baseball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Wahama Jr/Sr High, Job #503-220-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Eric Veith, Jr High Football Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-110-S, for the 2012-13 school year. Approved the employment of Mick Cottrill JV Volleyball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-155-S, for the 2012-13 school year.


Approved the employment of Steve Richardson, Jr High Head Baseball Coach (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-124-S, for the 2012-13 school year. Approved Marla Cottrill as Athletic Assistant (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification), Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job 502-161-S, for the 2012-13 school year. This is an unpaid position.


Approved the contract between the Mason County Board of Education and Aio Recovery, LLC, to have telecom and waste services reviewed/audited for potential savings. Approved the Collaborative Agreement between the Mason County Board of Education and South Western Community Action Council Head Start for the 2012-13 school year. Preschool Child Count will be the funding source.


Approved and pass a formal resolution accepting the conditions of the contract with Senate of WV FY2013 Community Participation Grant, in the amount of $20,000.00, for construction of tennis courts at the Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High Athletic Complex. Approved the ratification of orders issued, transfers, and supplements. Check Numbers 80822 through 80927, totaling $342,963.54.


In addition to Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, board members attending were Thomas Nunnery, Randy Searls, Greg Fowler, Paul Sayre, and Dale Shobe.


The Mason County Board of Education will meet again for a regular business meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Mason County Career Center.
