Charles Douglas Chattin, of Indianapolis, Ind., left his earthly family on August 5, 2012, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was the first child of William Leroy and Elda Mae (Taylor) Chattin, who preceded him in death.

“Bud” returned to Mason County to complete his life journey among his surviving siblings, which include: Ray Eugene (Jane) of Leon, Paul Lee of Columbus, Ohio, Lewis Wayne (Karen) of Point Pleasant, Mary Louise (Bill) Greer of Mason, Deborah Anne of Mount Alto, and Mark Allan (Janet) of Flatrock. Also surviving are close friends, including: Darrel, Gloria, Jeana, Brandon and “Buttercup” (Rissa) Hickman of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ronnie and Faye Higginbotham of Putnam County.

Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and attended West Virginia Tech. During his lifetime, “Bud” made his living as an architectural draftsman, for Marietta Manufacturing, We-Fab and McGovern Steel and operated his own trucking company for many years.

The Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, of Point Pleasant, has been entrusted with Charlie’s care. Friends may visit between 7-9 p.m. on Friday evening, August 10, 2012. The final celebration of life will be conducted by Rev. Joe Hammack at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Lone Oak Cemetery.
