POINT PLEASANT — At the most recent meeting of the Mason County Board of Education, board members approved the following agenda and personnel items.


Approved the following as approved drivers for the 2012-13 school year. There driving records have been checked by the WV Department of Motor Vehicles: Shirley Billings, Rhonda Blankenship, Jennifer Huffman, Franklin Hudnall, Donald Linger, Shirley Livingston, Samuel Nibert, Dusty Smith, Cynthia Tupes.


Accepted the resignation of Charlotte Reed, School Nurse, Central Office Itinerant, effective August 1, 2012. Accepted the resignation of Maria Smith, Preschool, Special Needs Teacher, Ashton Elementary, effective July 20, 2012. Approved the transfer of Chrystalle Doyle, Music Teacher, Ashton Elementary, to Technology Integration Specialist, Central Office Itinerant, Job #001-042-I, effective 2012-13 school year. Title VI will be the funding source. Approved the employment of William Cox and Lauren Gilley, as Substitute Teachers for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the transfer of Janet Kincaid, Kindergarten Teacher, Point Pleasant Primary, to Title I Reading Teacher/Interventionist, Point Pleasant Primary School, Job #217-480-P, for the 2012-13 school year. Title I will be the funding source. Approved the transfer of Elizabeth Arthur, LD/BD/MI/AU, Special Education Teacher, Roosevelt Elementary, to Grade 4 Teacher, Roosevelt Elementary, Job #213-511-P, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved to increase employment days from 205 days to 210 days for the following secretaries: Venis Roush, New Haven Elementary, Alicia Cale and Cheryl Ellis, Point Pleasant Primary School, effective August 1, 2012. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of David Darst, Substitute Custodian, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the transfer of Kenneth Blessing, Custodian .5 Leon Elementary, to Bus Operator, Route 2085, Job #014-149-C, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the transfer of Paul Nichols, Bus Operator, Route 2011, to Route 103, Job 014-109-C, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the transfer of Laura Herdman, Special Education Aide, Central Office Itinerant, to Special Education Aide, Central Office Itinerant, Job #001-051-C, effective 2012-13 school year. Special Education will be the funding source. Approved the transfer of Mark Matheny, from General Maintenance to General Maintenance/Sanitation, Maintenance Department, Job #018-018-M, effective August 2, 2012. County will be the funding source.


Approved to delete the position of General Maintenance, Maintenance Department. Approved the transfer of Alan Durst, Custodian, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, to Custodian (200 days), Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-820-C, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Accepted the resignation of John Cochran, Seventh Grade Girls Basketball, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective August 1, 2012. Accepted the resignation of Dustin Null, Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach, Hannan Jr/Sr High, effective August 1, 2012.


Approved the Excess levy Order and Official Ballot to present before voters on the November 6, 2012 General Election Ballot.


Approved the ratification of Orders Issued, Transfers, and Supplements. Check #80654 through 80705, totaling $103,155.01.


In addition to Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, board members present were Thomas Nunnery, Randy Searls, Greg Fowler, Paul Sayre, and Dale Shobe.


The Mason County Board of Education will meet again at 6 p.m. on Aug. 14, at the Mason County Career Center.
