MASON COUNTY — In this day and age, technology is growing every day, and while at times it can be more of a distraction than progression, when school starts Mason County Schools will be using a new program which will help teachers, students and parents.

At the start of the new school year on Aug. 20, Mason County Schools will be teaming up with Engrade, an online learning management system that allows educators to manage classes online and provide parents and students with real-time class information. It was reported this web-based tool can be used by any web-enabled device, allowing students and parents to stay in communication with teachers and view grades, assignments and attendance online anytime, anywhere.

Engrade will also allow the classroom to run more efficiently by creating a single sign on for teachers, supporting them in creating an outcomes-driven, personalized learning experience for each student. Not only will students and parents have an easier communication channel through the message application linking back to email, but they will have access to safe and secure classroom discussions pertinent to assignments and grading.

It was reported that in order to prepare for the transition from GradeQuick to Engrade, the teachers and administrators of Mason County Schools are participating in a comprehensive training and will be fully prepared to ease students and parents into the new system. With Engrade, teachers will also have access to a new array of digital learning tools that can deliver learning modules, such as videos, presentations and documents as well as digital assessments all in one platform.

Engrade is a comprehensive learning management platform that delivers a wide range of premium education tools that support learning, communication and performance management in the classroom. Since 2003, Engrade has grown its user base to 4.5 million teachers, admins, parents, and students in all 50 states, and 150 countries, with institutional customers that include the New York City Department of Education and KIPP Charter Schools. Several counties in WV will also be piloting Engrade this school year, including Kanawha, Randolph, Logan, Wayne, Putnam, and Morgan counties.
