POINT PLEASANT — Members of the Mason County Board of Education recently met for a policy/regular business meeting and the following agenda and personnel items were approved.


Placed Policy #4433-Vacation, on a five day review and comment period. Placed Policy #5410-Promotion, Acceleration, Placement and Retention, on a five day review and comment period. Placed policy #3120.08-Employment of Personnel for Extra-Curricular Activities, on a five day review and comment period. Placed Policy #3120.09-Volunteers, on a five day review and comment period.


Accept the resignation of Ashley Beever, Counselor, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective July 20, 2012. Approved to post the following (3) positions for the 2012-13 school year only: Title I Teacher/Interventionists-One position at Beale Elementary and Two positions at Point Pleasant Primary School. Title I will be the funding source. Approved to post the position of Title I Teacher, Ashton Elementary, for the 2012-13 school year only. Title I will be the funding source. Approved to rescind the termination of Meredith Moore, Title I Instruction Coach, Central Office Itinerant, due to Reduction In Force, as the reason for the Reduction In Force no longer exists.


Approved to rescind the termination of Lorie Grimm, Title I Teacher, New Haven Elementary, due to Reduction in Force, as the reason for the Reduction In Force no longer exists. Approved the employment of Michael Wolfe, Technology Integration Specialist, Central Office Itinerant, Job #001-035-I, effective for 2012-13 school year. Mr. Wolfe is being employed from the Reduction In Force List. Title II will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Cassie Goldsberry, LD/BD/MI Teacher, Alternative School, Job #100-978-P, effective 2012-13 school year. Ms. Goldsberry is being employed from the Reduction In Force list. Special Education will be the funding source.


Approved the transfer of Robert Grady, General Science Teacher, Wahama Jr/Sr High, to Chemistry, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-814-P, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Accepted the resignation of David Darst, Custodian, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective August 1, 2012. Approved to post two positions of General Maintenance/Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic I, Maintenance Department, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved to post the position of General Maintenance/Sanitation Plant Operator, Maintenance Department. County will be the funding source.


Approved the transfer of Laura Herdman, Aide, Central Office Itinerant, to Aide, Central Office Itinerant, Job #001-052-C, effective 2012-13 school year. Special Education will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Doug Sturgeon, Homebound/Alternative Education, Central Office Itinerant, on an as-needed basis, Job #001-045-E, for the 2012-13 school year. Special Education will be the funding source. Approved the ratification of orders issued, transfers, and supplements. Checks #80547 through 80586, totaling $181,416.98.


In addition to Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, board members attending were Randy Searls, Greg Fowler, Paul Sayre, Dale Shobe. Board member Thomas Nunnery was absent.


The Mason County Board of Education will meet again for a regular business meeting at 6 p.m., on July 24, at the Mason County Career Center.
