She was born in Ripley to the late John and Ruby Bond and moved to Mason as a child. She attended Mason Grade School and graduated from Wahama High School in 1952.
She married Bob McDermitt on July 29, 1952, in Mason, at Reverend Mahoney’s home. They proceeded to have three children, Cathy, Barbara, and Ellen.
She is survived by her family, daughters, Barbara (Michael) Huck of Wheeling, and Ellen (Berry) Harris of Letart; sisters, Peggy King of Mason, and Bernice Vanmeter; five grandchildren, Steven Ohlinger, Bryan Kearns, Beth Kearns, Bobby Harris, and Mia Huck; two great-grandchildren, Claire and Griffin Ohlinger; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert F. McDermitt; daughter, Cathy Kearns, and her brother, John Bond.
She played piano for different functions in the Valley from weddings, church services, revivals, and funerals, etc. She was a homemaker for life except a few Christmas seasons at Stiffler’s Department Store which she loved.
