Robert Lee Strange, Jr., 81, of West Columbia passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 5, 2009, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was a member of the Sandhill Road Church of Christ and was a coal miner in Kentucky.

He was born, March 12, 1927, in Jackhorn, Ky., to the late Robert L. and Winnie (Mullins) Strange, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara E. (Bentley) Strange, daughter, Rita Knapp, five brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Philip Shirley of South Point, Ohio and Rhonda and Jim Boswell of West Columbia; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Juanita Strange of Letart; four sisters, Mary Bailey of Harlen, Ky., Myrtle Potter of Jackhorn, Ollie Rusella of Livionia, Mich., and Emma Miller of Jackson, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Minister Pete Allinder officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Letart. Visitation will be held from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
