Worthy Logan, 72, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Pleasant Valley Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Southside, a son to the late Sherman and Mary Ann Johnson Logan. He worked nine years at Southern States in Point Pleasant, and then retired from Appalachian Tire Products in Point Pleasant after 35 plus years of service. During this time he made many friends with the people and farmers of Mason County and the surrounding areas. After retirement, he enjoyed doing handy-work for people in the area and took great pride in his work. Worthy also attended Hambrick Church and loved his church family.

He is preceded in death, besides his parents, by two sisters, Shirley Logan Patterson and Peggy Logan Likens; and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Willett Logan; son, Tim (Patty) Logan of Point Pleasant; daughter, Lisa Logan Barker of Milton; three grandchildren, Gretchen (Danny) Logan Buttrick of Henderson, Wayne Logan of Henderson, and Courtney Barker of Milton; as well as two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Loren Buttrick, whom he adored. Also surviving are sisters and brothers, Marie Loomis Collins, Emma Long, Clarence Logan, Gilbert Logan, and Robert Logan.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Pearson, Joey Loomis, Pee Wee Loomis, Tommy Patterson, Larry Leport, and Cecil Birchfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Isaiah Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Friends may visit the family from 5-8 p.m., on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the funeral home.
