GALLIPOLIS — A Columbus man was arrested by officers with the Gallipolis Police Department early on Wednesday morning after a large amount of crack cocaine was recovered from his motel room.

Raymone Jackson, 30, Columbus, was arrested at the Super 8 Motel located at the intersection of U.S. 35 and Ohio 7 in Gallipolis at approximately 12 a.m. on Wednesday for trafficking in drugs and drug possession.

Following an investigation by the police department, a search warrant was issued by Probate-Juvenile Judge Thomas S. Moulton, Jr., and, during the search, a total of 48 individually wrapped packages of crack cocaine were recovered.

According to Gallia County Assistant Prosecutor Eric Mulford, over $3,000 was also seized as a result of the bust — cash for forfeiture to the Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Law Enforcement Trust Fund that will be utilized in the purchase of equipment and training for the police department.

Mulford further reported that charges against additional suspects will be presented to the next session of the Gallia County Grand Jury.
