Mason County Magistrate Court

The case of a women accused of kidnapping has been bound over to possible, further proceedings in Mason County Circuit Court. Elizabeth C. McDermitt, 40, Point Pleasant, appeared for her preliminary hearing on Monday before Mason County Magistrate Gail Roush. After the hearing, Roush determined there was probable cause to send the matter on to circuit court where it could possibly be heard by a grand jury. The next grand jury will convene this month though it’s uncertain if McDermitt’s case, or the case of her husband William McDermitt also charged with kidnapping, will be presented. The McDermitts have been in jail since their arrests last month. There is no bond amount for a kidnapping charge. Elizabeth McDermitt was represented at her preliminary hearing by Attorney Rebecca Johnson.
