She was retired from the Columbus Medical Bureau as an executive secretary.
Bernice was born June 16, 1918 to the late Theodore and Mary Susan (McKinney) Plants.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Underwood; two sons, Lewis and David Underwood; and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhea Ann Buchanan of Sullivan, Ill.; two granddaughters, Susan Hinton of Grove City and Melissa Hershey of Fredrickstown, Ohio; and her great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be observed at 1 p.m. today at Eddy Chapel Cemetery with Pastors Carl Swisher and Robert Patterson II officiating. There will be no visitation.
