Mason County Board of Education approves personnel

MASON — The Mason County Board of Education recently met at the Mason County Career Center to approve several personnel issues and policies.

Professional personnel:

Approved regular employee status for Melissa Barnett, effective Sept. 28, 2011, and Tamara Epling, effective Dec. 13, 2011. Approved the transfer of Marshall Barnhouse, Music/Theater Arts Teacher, Hannan Jr/Sr High, to teacher, Music/Band/Choir. Hannan Jr/Sr High/Ashton Elementary, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.

Approved to extend medical leave for Shelia Roettker, Point Pleasant Primary School, for a total maximam of 12 weeks unpaid leave. Approved to delete the position of LD, BD, MI teacher, Wahama Jr/Sr High, effective 2012-13 school year. Approve to delete the position of LD, BD, MI Teacher, Hannan Jr/Sr High, effective 2012-13 school year.

Extracurricular personnel:

Accepted the resignation of Larry Gibbs as 7/8 Grade Football Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High school, effective Jan. 4. Approved the employment of Kim Napora, Mentor Teacher, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective Jan 23, for the 2011-12 school year. County will be the funding source.

Policies:

Placed policy #3123.08-Employment of Personnel for Extra Curricular Activities, on a ten day review and comment period. Placed policy #5136-Wireless Communication Devices on a ten day review and comment period.

In addition to Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, Board members present at the meeting were Michael Cottrill, Thomas Nunnery, Randy Searls, Dale Shobe, and Teresa Warner. The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the Mason County Career Center/Hartley Building.
