CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — The River Valley Lady Raiders earned a trip to the Division III Sectional Final with a four set victory over Chesapeake on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Raiders(13-9) defeated the host Lady Panthers by scores of 25-19, 26-24, 22-25, and 25-23 in the sectional semifinal contest.
This was the first postseason victory for the Lady Raiders since the 2008 sectional final when they defeated Nelsonville-York.
Beth Misner led the Lady Raiders with 16 points, Mary Waugh had 14 points, Kaci Bryant and Alicia Ferrell each had seven points, Tracy Roberts added seven points, and Cady Gilmore had two points.
Ashlee Miller paced the Lady Panthers with 18 points, Sarah Rice added 13 points, Macy Allen had seven points, Beth McWhorter had five points, and Caitlin Heffner had one point.
Roberts had three kills for the Lady Raiders, Waugh and Ferrell had two each and Bryant added one. Ferrell had six blocks in the match and Roberts had five.
The 10th seed Lady Raiders will travel to second seed Zane Trace on Saturday for the Division III Sectional Final match. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
