BUFFALO, W.Va. - Wahama may have had Buffalo's number over the past two seasons, but the Lady Bison got a little revenge Friday night in Buffalo.

The Lady Falcons (12-8) had not lost to the Blue and Gold in nearly two years, but Buffalo (21-14) responded the past two evenings on its home turf, sweeping Wahama out of the sectional tournament as the Lady Falcons fell 8-5 Thursday and lost in a 4-3 heartbreaker Friday.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the seventh inning with little offensive production over the prior six innings, the Lady Falcons finally got rolling in the top half of the inning

Kaley Ferguson led off with single, but was immediately followed up by a pop-up from Brooke Hankinson which seemed to fire up the Buffalo bench.

But before the Lady Bison could get too excited, Wahama made things interesting.

Amber Tully was next up with her first at-bat of the night in place of Airiel Derifield and made a good first impression with a single, moving Ferguson around to second. The two baserunners then moved into scoring position on a passed ball from pitcher Dingess which ignited the Lady Falcon sideline.

A shift in momentum could easily be felt on the very next play. Wolfe hit softly to the pitcher, but the throw to first went too high, allowing Wolfe to round safely to second and Ferguson and Tully to score, drawing the score to 3-2.

With both sidelines up and cheering on their team, Wahama saw Wolfe on second with only one out. Veronika Ohlinger was next up, but a weak hit to third base gave the Lady Falcons their second out of the inning.

On the very next at bat, KeithAnn Sayre hit and reached on an error, allowing Wolfe to make an attempt at third base. Wolfe took off from second and slide into third, but like the play that allowed her to reach in the first place, the ball went over the head of the thirdbaseman on the throw, allowing Wolfe to stand up and easily jog home for the tying run, igniting the Wahama bench.

After the next batter hit a fly ball to right field for the third out, Wahama went into the dugout possessing a huge momentum shift as Buffalo stepped to the plate, both with sectional championship dreams still alive.

The Lady Bison were faced with a quick first out when Katelyn Scott hit weakly to short stop KeithAnn Sayre who made a nice throw to first for the out. Next up was Emily Burgess, who hit a single, putting a runner on base with only the one out.

On the very next at bat, clean up hitter Jessica Blake ripped a double to the right field fence, allowing Burgess to reach third where she held up.

Tucker hit a line drive shot just inches over the top of the glove of Ohlinger, giving Tucker the game winning RBI when Burgess crossed home plate as the Buffalo bench cleared and ran onto the field in celebration.
