Mason County Community Foundation & the Point Pleasant Register
WHAT IS THE PROGRAM? The Mason County Spirit of Our Community Program was created by the Mason County Community Foundation and the Point Pleasant Register as a way to honor the volunteer leaders and donors of our community who work to improve our community and have helped build the “spirit of our community”. Through this recognition program it is our hope that by showcasing those who are working to improve our community, it will encourage new leaders to follow their good works to continue to make our community a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
HOW DO I NOMINATE A CANIDATE? Use the attached form to nominate a special person, organization or company from the community who has worked to improve the Mason County community by generously and unselfishly giving his/her or their volunteer time or financial support. Winners will be selected from the following categories: Health & Human Services; Youth & Education; Arts & Culture; and Recreation. Fill out the attached nomination form along with a one page narrative outlining why this person should receive this award and return both pages in the mail to the Mason County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 66, Point Pleasant, WV 25550; online through to firstname.lastname@example.org ; or fax to 304-428-4438 by 4pm on September 2, 2011. The nomination form and this program fact sheet are also available to be downloaded into your computer at mydailyregister.com. Winners will be selected by September 23rd, featured in a newspaper article highlighting their good works, and honored at a Spirit of Our Community Reception on November 10th.
HOW WILL THE COMMUNITY BENEFIT? The Mason County Community Foundation is working to build its general grant resources to provide more significant grants to help improve our community. Substantial donations (provided by the generous sponsors of this program) will be earmarked for the Mason County Support, Arts & Education, Youth, and Mason County Community Foundation Scholarship Funds in honor of the four “Spirit of Our Community” winners.
WHEN WILL THE AWARDS BE MADE? The 2011 Mason County Spirit of Our Community Awards will be made at the Mason County Community Foundation’s Annual Spirit of Our Community Program & Benefit at 6pm on Thursday, November 10th. Award winners will be featured in a series of newspaper articles during October and early November. Spirit of Our Community Award Winners and the program sponsors will be honored at the event. Gold and silver program sponsors will be given tickets (and half or whole tables at the event) to join us for the program event. This event is also a benefit for the Community Foundation. Individual tickets are on sale for $50 per person, half tables (4 tickets) for $500 and full tables (8 tickets) for $1,000. HOW DO I BECOME A SPONSOR? Simply fill out the attached sponsorship form and return it to the Mason County Community Foundation by September 1, 2011. A series of newspaper stories will be featured starting June 15th so the earlier the sponsorship commitment is made, the more coverage you will receive for your involvement. A one page acknowledgment ad will run the week of November 7th to honor the Spirit of Our Community Award winners and the program sponsors.
