POINT PLEASANT — Bluegrass music lovers will have something to enjoy with Friday’s Mayor’s Night Out concert.

This week’s concert will feature Smith & Company, a traditional and bluegrass style music group from Huntington. Smith & Company will take to the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park main stage at 8 p.m.

As with all concerts in the Mayor’s Night Out series, Friday’s event will be both free and open to the public. According to the band’s Facebook page, Smith & Company has been together for several months and features Red Lewis on banjo, Marcia Smith on bass, Willard Reynolds on mandolin and Rodney Miles on guitar.

In addition to Friday’s concert, more acts were recently added to the Mayor’s Night Out schedule, including Joey D. & the Dub V’s, a radio rock and pop rock group. Joey D. & the Dub V’s will perform Friday, July 22. Elmer Miller and Valerie Clonch, a gospel duo, also have been added to the schedule and are slated to perform Aug. 19.

Other Mayor’s Night Out concerts set for this summer include: Pakin Up, July 8; Paul Doeffinger, July 15; ; Nathan Naylor and Tyler Sharp; Aug. 5; and Bill Hawks, Aug. 26.

The Mayor’s Night Out concert series has been a staple of summer fun in the area since 2004. Concerts are described as “family friendly” events, and all scheduled acts appeal to many musical tastes. Several Mayor’s Night Out concert events featuring acts, such as South of the River Band, Gary Tolley and Forever Blessed, have already taken place this summer.
