Special Olympics Golf Scramble this Sunday at Riverside Golf Course

MASON — On Friday, May 27, 70 local athletes will compete in the Mason County Special Olympics Field Games at Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School. Already, volunteers and board members for the organization have been raising funds to help support those competing, and with the help of the community, this Sunday many more will come together for the special cause.

As part of the effort between Bend Area C.A.R.E., Riverside Golf Club, and Ingels’ Electronics, the 2011 Special Olympics Golf Scramble will be held on May 22 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Three different levels of sponsorship is available. This includes Gold - $110, one player entry with a sponsor sign on tree or green; Silver - $85, one play entry with a sponsor sign at picnic shelther; and Bronze - $60, one player entry. The entry fee also includes green fees, cart, mulligans and skins game, food and refreshments, and prizes.

“We will be on hand serving hot dogs and other refreshments,” Aleta Flora, community director said. “We are hoping for a good turn out.”

Those interested in taking part can attend the ‘Meet the Team’ Party this Friday at the Riverside Golf Club. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and free food and drinks will be served.
