ASHTON — Monday night’s thunderstorms and Tuesday’s rain may have dampened the search for 75-year old Bill Mayes, but crews are still hoping for any leads in the missing Ashton man’s case.

According to family members, the community has been “amazing” in showing up to help out. And volunteers continue to pour in as the rain pours down.

The creek that runs behind Mayes’ residence on Ashton-Upland Road, and continues to be the main focus of search crews. Once the water recedes, as it began to Tuesday afternoon, family is hoping that the eight different fire departments coming to aid in the search will turn up with something.

Mayes was last seen along his driveway one week ago yesterday. In the past several months, he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
