Bernice Ann Smith 71, of Hartford, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with her family by her side.

She was born April 25, 1939 in Mason County, a daughter of the late Delmas and Genevieve “Tweet” Powell Kearns.

She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Gibbstown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Smith in 1986; and a brother, Harry Kearns.

Bernice is survived by a son, Tim (Anna) Smith of Bridgeport; a daughter, Debbie (Don) Hysell of Rutland, Ohio; two brothers, Charlie (Rosa Lee) Kearns, and Gerald (Emma Lee) Kearns, both of New Haven; and four grandchildren, Timmy and Ryan Smith, Don (Joy) Hysell and Lindsay Hysell.

Friends will be received at the Foglesong-Tucker Funeral Home, 2nd and Pomeroy St. in Mason on Saturday, March 5 from 12 noon till time of service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Zerkle Cemetery in Letart.
