HARTFORD — Residents in the Town of Hartford will head to the polls later this year to select a mayor, five council members and recorder.

Candidates who want to file for any of these positions may do so until the end of January.

Mayor Sam Anderson said he was intending on seeking his third term in office as mayor.

Current council members are Patty Neil, Susan Kensler, Billy Roush and Tom Anderson. Councilman Leland Turley resigned in November.

The recorder is Cheryl Oldaker.

During the past two years, council members have attempted to find funding to repair the town’s water and sewer systems. They also have worked in an attempt to repair the roads and other public works.

Some form of help has been given to the town in funding from Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, which was used to purchase a four-wheel drive police cruiser.

The municipal election will be in June.
