DAYTON, Ohio — Another year, another honor.
University of Dayton women’s basketball player Jenna Burdette — a 2014 graduate of Eastern High School — recently completed her sophomore campaign by being named to the third team of the 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Conference squad.
Burdette — a four-time Southeast District player of the year and four-time first team All-Ohio selection in Division IV — led the Flyers in minutes played, points scored and assists during a up-and-down campaign that ended with a 14-15 overall record and a first round loss to Western Kentucky in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
Burdette — who was named the Most Outstanding Player of 2014 Division IV state tournament after leading the Lady Eagles to their only state championship — produced 333 points, 140 assists and 121 rebounds over the course of 966 minutes this year, which led to averages of 11.5 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds in each of her 29 games played.
Burdette shot 41.6 percent from the field on the season, which included 41 percent from three-point range, and was also an 81 percent free throw shooter. Burdette also recorded 25 steals and nine blocked shots this winter.
Burdette was an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection as a freshman in 2015, a season in which the Flyers advanced to the Elite 8 before falling to eventual national champion Connecticut.
Burdette led the Flyers in scoring seven times this season, which included a pair of career-high efforts of 23 points against both George Mason and George Washington in consecutive games. Jenna has amassed 532 career points during her two seasons at Dayton.
Burdette also led UD in assists during 18 of its 29 games this year, including a career-high 14 against Duquesne. The Flyers finished eighth in the conference standings this year with a 7-9 league mark.
Burdette — an Exercise Science major — is the daughter of John and Jill Burdette of Coolville, Ohio.
